Phasmophobia has passed 30 million copies sold across all platforms. Kinetic Games shared the milestone on October 8, the same day its yearly Halloween event, Crimson Eye, went live.
For a co-op ghost-hunting game that started in Early Access six years ago, that’s a huge number. Here’s what the event brings this year and which dates are worth marking.
30 Million Copies in Six Years
Phasmophobia first launched on Steam in September 2020 and quickly became one of the biggest streaming games of that autumn. In October 2024, it also arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
On Steam, it still holds a 94% positive rating from more than 440,000 reviews. The latest milestone counts sales on every platform, not just PC.
What’s in the Crimson Eye Event
This is Crimson Eye’s third year. During the event, a Blood Moon transforms eight locations, including 6 Tanglewood Drive, Grafton Farmhouse, Point Hope and Camp Woodwind. Nell’s Diner joins the event map list for the first time.
Ghost hunts also get more dangerous under the Blood Moon. You earn event points by finding Blood Moon totems, completing investigations and finishing optional objectives.
Those points unlock this year’s rewards: the Beholder ID Card and Badge, the Blood Moon charm and the Crimson Eye trophy. If you already have the trophy from an earlier year, you can upgrade it instead.
Crimson Eye 2026 Key Dates
The event lasts more than three weeks, and a few extras run inside it:

If you’re short on time, the Double XP week from October 15 is the best moment to play. Last year, the Ghost Hunts 4 Hearts campaign raised more than $100,000 for the American Heart Association.
Joining the Hunt This Halloween
Phasmophobia costs $19.99 on Steam in the US, and the price in other regions follows the local currency. A Steam, PlayStation or Xbox gift card around that value usually covers it, as long as the card matches your account’s region.
