Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launches tomorrow, October 9, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The expansion costs $29.99, or you can get it together with the base game for $49.99.
It’s the first big expansion for Capcom’s 2024 RPG, and it also marks the game’s debut on Switch 2. Here’s what you get and how much it costs.
What’s New in Dark Arisen
The expansion takes you north to Norgan, a snowy region that was once part of Vermund but was abandoned long ago. There, the Arisen investigates a Fallen Dragon that refuses to die.
On top of the new story, Dark Arisen adds plenty to do:
- Relics you find and appraise to unlock new weapons and skills.
- 12 Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges that reward rare equipment.
- New character creator options, including hairstyles and tattoos.
- More monsters to fight in Norgan’s frozen wilds.
If you stopped playing a while ago, it’s worth knowing that earlier free updates also changed the base game. The reusable Eternal Ferrystone makes fast travel much easier, and an August patch improved performance and added more save slots.
Price and Editions
You can pick up Dark Arisen in two ways. On PS5, Xbox and Steam, both options are available. On Switch 2, however, Capcom lists only the bundle, since the game is new to the console.
| Edition | What’s included | US price |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Arisen expansion | Norgan region, relics, 12 dungeon challenges | $29.99 |
| Dark Arisen bundle | Base game + expansion | $49.99 |
If you already own the game on a US Steam account, a single $30 Steam Gift Card (US) covers the expansion. New players, by contrast, can start with the base game and add the expansion later.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Switch 2
This is the first time Dragon’s Dogma 2 comes to a Nintendo console. Capcom announced it during the June Nintendo Direct, and the Switch 2 version includes the base game and Dark Arisen from day one.
Consequently, Switch 2 owners get the most complete version of the game right away, without buying the expansion separately. For everyone else, the expansion is the reason to return to Vermund this autumn.
